on Wed 8-08-2001 there were 37099 domains
on Thu 27-09-2001 there are 38699 domains
Between the two dates there were 678 domains removed and 2278 domains added
the files are: removed.domains and added.domains

Thu Sep 27 2001 Say Oct 1 :-)

on Thu 27-09-2001 there were 38699 domains
on Wed 10-10-2001 there are 39402 domains
Between the two dates there were 147 domains removed and 850 domains added

Wed 10 10 '01 Checking new mass crawler

on Wed 10-10-2001 there were 39402 domains
on Mon 22-10-2001 there are 40009 domains !
Between the two dates there were 125 domains removed and 732 domains added
the files are: removed.domains and added.domains

Mon 22 Oct 2001 YES we broke the 40K mark

on Mon-5-11-2001/ there were 40652 domains
Between the two dates there were 294 domains removed and 937 domains added
Mon 5 Nov 2001 40652 domains scanned in 85 Minutes. 478 domains/minute with 32 processes over a 512K line !

Fri 23 Nov 2001 R.I.P. No data whatsoever, them squareheads have blocked AXFRs from the root DNS servers. Another free service bites the dust

The software used to generate these reports is called Xray. Here is the readme file for the project. You also need the masscrawler.

Tech Notes on Fast Searches

The search engine is based on my db based perl search engine. The Xray package generates 2 files domains_scanned and domains_per_server which are combined into one database file with mkd. This file is in turn used by the cgi-script dns-search.pl as a persistent hash table.
